In this short is so harrowing.Cutting Moments is a 1997 short film written, produced, and directed by Douglas Buck, in cooperation with The New School. The depiction of a disconnected relationship shown The sound of it all and the blood dropping on the floor was very realistic. She started rubbing it across her lips slowly, then speeded up the process more and more. The brillo pad scene was also very harsh. Then it would show the front of her face once again and a piece of the lip falling off of the blade. After a loud closing noise, tons of blood would spill on the floor, then her chest. The scissor blades would be getting ready to cut a piece of the lip, it would then show the back view of her pushing down on the scissors. Even though the lip cutting wasn't shown, Douglas Buck had an inventive way of filming it so that the viewer would still experience the pain she was going through. The film succeeded in every field, especially the mutilation Sarah did to herself and the pain they brought on to each other at the end. A very harsh look at reality, to say the least. Also it shows what a parent can be driven to after they lose any sexual interest in their spouse.
